"Of course." She tried to smile, but it came out as more of a grimace. Was it wrong that she'd wanted to actually see him? Spend some time with him? Probably. Since he'd just lost a family and the feelings she had for him were more than platonic. If he spent time here, the loneliness would only catch up to her and she'd end up doing something she'd regret. At least with him gone, the only two options were Charles and Hank and Charles had never been an option she could have.

A small part of the back of her mind wondered what would happened if she did ask him to stay like he'd asked her to leave all those years ago. He'd probably stay, but if he came to regret it, he might blame her. She'd certainly blame herself.

"Keep in touch this time, all right?" She didn't want to pretend she had no idea what was going on in his life when really, she knew everything.
